The National Countryside Basketball Competition Northwest Tournament was held from August 27th to 31st in Xiji County and Yuanzhou District of Guyuan. Basketball players and audience from five provinces in Northwest China came to Xiji to celebrate the event. In order to maintain a good environment for the tournament, Xiji Tianying carried out a half-month comprehensive cleaning campaign.
In addition to completing routine cleaning, sanitation staff were asked to thoroughly clean sidewalks, slow lanes, and road curbs that are prone to waste accumulation; each sweeping truck was equipped with two full-time workers to supervise the cleaning of curbside waste; on August 25, a comprehensive scrubbing of the grandstands was conducted to ensure all seats were free of dust; an emergency team was deployed to clean up the stadium right after each game finished.
Management of dry sweepers was intensified so as to ensure priority cleaning of key road sections in a timely manner. Night shift was strengthened with three hook-lift trucks working till ten thirty every night to clean up roadside dumpsters. A sprinkler truck was in charge of touring the streets to prevent fire accidents occurred at waste collection points or dumpsters. Security checks were conducted and safety equipment was in place to avoid any actualization of safety hazards.
Sanitation workers carried out no less than four times a day on the public toilets and transfer stations for disinfection and fly control. One of the transfer stations would remain open till 11:00pm to receive waste collected by late-night trucks and reduce the amount of work for the staff at the station.
The logistics department kept statistics of supplies needed by various departments and timely contacted suppliers for stockpiling. Maintenance of receipts, billings and photo collection was also carried out.
